The Hardest Thing to Do- Asking for HELP
Introduction-
let’s get this started, 6-9-09 is my clean date and as you can tell by the first picture you can see that I was a little worse for wear. This Photo was my entrance photo into the Sothern Oregon Rehabilitation Center & Clinic or SORCC. You would think that this is my worst day, however, this is the first day of the rest of my life.
– Six months into the program I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. I undertook a 1-year treatment program involving taking a poison to kill a poison. Imagine if you will the second day of having the flu and having those symptoms for a year. Outwardly I looked very pale and was lethargic. To combat this, I was given a weekly Vitamin B shot. Currently, Hepatitis C is in full remission.
– After staying eighteen months in the SORCC I graduated. By this time, I was gainfully employed at Pathways Enterprises as a custodian working at Southern Oregon University (SOU). I did this for four years until I gained employment at the SORCC.
– Bright Futures at RCC the beginning of my College education.
– Married, 3 stepdaughters and acquired the normal belongings i.e. vehicles bought the first home.
– After working one week I broke my first metacarpal which laid me up for 6 months. This also got me removed from employment from SORCC. Reapplied and was hired back on at the SORCC. Within 1 year I advanced from a WG-2 entry level to Supervisor.
Graduation from RCC with an AAS degree in Diesel technology. After this, I realized that I wanted to continue with my college education through SOU. Currently, I am in the Innovation & Leadership Program cohort #5.
Conclusion- Although this may appear all wonderful let me break down what my weak points that I consistently work though.
1-Low self – esteem, overly concerned with what others think of me
2-Don’t do well with confrontation
3-Mathematics I have had to take every math course twice
I have continued to persevere and as you see I am standing right here in front of you as evidence that if one continues to try they can advance.
