In gaining acceptance to SOU for a Bachelors degree I decided to take American Sign Language specifically as I have 3 employees who are Deaf. This was a huge morale booster not only for myself yet for the employees as they felt a part of the VA team.

Surely there are many things that frighten one self. One incident that always sticks in my mind is a conversation with an elderly couple in a elevator. We where riding up to the third floor in a Hospital and I noticed that the couple each had a broken leg. Being the curious type I asked how they both acquired their broken legs. The gentlemen replied that they had been in an elevator that had fallen three floors resulting in their broken legs. My response was then why are you riding in this elevator? The Lady replied that it was this very elevator that had fallen and their way of getting over their fear was to ride this elevator. They had been riding this elevator everyday for the past three weeks to get over there fear.
